Hawker 850XP

Hawker 850XP

The Hawker 850XP was certified in 2006. With the addition of factory installed winglets, performance improvements over the 800XP include a faster climb to altitude, plus added range of approximately 100 nautical miles. In addition to the new factory winglets, the basic inspection interval was increased from 300 to 600 hours, a move that was applauded by Maintenance Directors and Chief Inspectors fleetwide who had been asking for a streamlined factory maintenance schedule.

The Hawker 850XP employs a Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite plus four 8×10-inch adaptive screens installed throughout the cabin and displaying navigation, terrain awareness warning systems (TAWS), weather, reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) and enhanced ground proximity warning systems (EGPWS).

Like all variants of the 800 Series, the 850XP’s roomy, stand-up cabin offers a forward galley, rear lavatory, and room for two crew members and eight passengers. More cabin features LCD lighting, touch-screen seat controls, fully berthable seats and plenty of in-cabin storage. The spacious 604 cubic ft. cabin surpassed all others in its class.

Note of interest

At the time of certification in 2006, the Hawker 850XP would continue a then forty-five year run of the Hawker 125 Program – the most successful and reliable mid-sized business jet ever built.

The 850XP’s relatively short three-year production run gave way to the even more successful Hawker 900XP. The 850XP and 900XP are identical in every way accept for the introduction of Honeywell’s newly upgraded Engine Model TFE731-50R. While in flight, the two airplanes are identical. When sitting side by side on the ramp, with engines idle, and if one knew what to look for, the newly added convex curved fan blades on the 50R’s are clearly visible on the Hawker 900XP.
